Day 5 L’Isle Jourdain to Brantome

Last night’s hotel was run by another magnificent Madame who let us check in early yesterday and served breakfast at 6.15am so we could get going before the heat arrived.
I also need to give an honourable mention to last night’s dessert, a sublime pistachio creme brûlée.

I set off at 7am and it was an idyllic morning on the bike with rolling hills, empty roads and occasional cows to have a chat to.

I stopped briefly for an almond croissant calorie injection and then pedalled on into the Dordogne region.

There was an amber weather warning for extreme high temperatures in this part of France so it was not a day to linger over lunch (more cheese obviously).
There was a bit more shade today but it was still a 15 mile sufferfest after lunch with the temperature hitting 36c.

I was very pleased to get to the hotel, a lovely pool and cold beers.

We are staying in the very pretty town of Brantome and I had a brief wander around but it is still 34c.

I found some yummy food to munch next to a fan on full blast in my room with a completely essential pudding.
