Day 7 Souillac to Entraygues
The temperature stayed ridiculously high last night and we had drinks and dinner with perspiration pouring from every pore. As in lots of French towns and villages, there was a Fete de musiques for the summer solstice. This was fun to be part of for a pre bedtime beer and I was lucky to have a quiet room at the back of the hotel. Unfortunately some of the group had rooms at the front and weren’t exactly pleased when the music and singing went on to 2am.
It was an early breakfast again and a cloudy but very humid morning so still a sweatfest. For the first time this trip, I decided to take Ibuprofen to stop my lower back and various other parts whinging.

There were lots of hills in the first half of the ride so important to stop and have a chat to the cows.

The ride then headed down to the Lot river with a glorious 40km pedalling along the Lot valley. The sun came out and the temperature reached 33c but the quiet road was partially shaded and so beautiful.

Our hotel has a pool but that river looked very enticing so I headed for a splosh in my bike kit, the coolest I’ve been for a week!

We climbed away from the Dordogne up to the dramatic village of Rocamadour, fortunately early enough to avoid the hordes of tourists but with an impressively grumpy coffee waiter.

Lunch was in Figeac with a stop at a boulangerie to buy our own goodies, another tartes au fraises helped with the last few climbs.
