Day 8 Entraygues to Mende

Fortunately I set my alarm for my post ride nap/conk out yesterday or I would have slept through dinner which was a 37€ three course delicious feast of local yummy stuff.

Despite the comatose nap, I still managed to have a lovely, deep sleep rudely ended by a 06.10 alarm. Another early start for a properly hilly ride finishing with a 1020m col in the heat of the day.

The ride to lunch was idyllic, next to the picturesque Lot river, through sleepy villages. The first two climbs had gentle gradients but still enough to make the legs complain.

Lunch was a delicious picnic next to the river.

The final stop was in Marvejolsas for a carbs and liquid top up before the last 20km of abject brutality.

The Garmin climb summary said the Col de Goudard climb was 5km long and an average gradient of 7%. I was confident that I could do that but it was in full hot sun with sections at 11-12% aka walking bits and a lot of swearing.

I was so tempted to just get in the van for the rest of the ride but my stubbornness kicked in and I battled and swore my way to the end.

I can feel another nap/conk out happening!
